MATERIAL HANDLER/FORKLIFT
1st Shift
Check-Mate Manufacturing has (2) open positions for Material Handlers/Forklift to maintain production and distribution of product by pulling orders from inventory; entering information in a ERP computer system, delivering production materials and supplies; staging finished product; loading and unloading and managing inventory.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Material handlers must enter information in a ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning System) to ensure inventory and shipping accuracy.
- Material handlers supply production area with necessary raw materials.
- Material handlers load, unload, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.
- Material handlers read work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Material handlers open containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw-hammer, or other hand-tools.
- Material handlers load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves using a pallet jack, hand-jack, dolly for forklift.
- Material handlers load materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand-tools.
- Material handlers convey materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand-truck, electric dolly, wheelbarrow, or another device.
- Material handlers secure lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
- Material handlers count, weight and record the number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
- Material handlers attach identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers
- Material handlers stack or assemble materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine and clincher.
- Material handlers make simple adjustments or repairs, such as realigning belts or replacing rollers, using hand-tools.
- Material handlers assemble crates to contain products, such as machines or vehicles, using hand-tools and pre-cut lumber.
- Material handlers may occasionally operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- 6 months – 3 years working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
- Forklift certification experience preferred
- 1-3 years operating a Fork truck, lift truck or pallet jack
- 6 mo.-1 yr. inventory control experience
- 6 mo. – 1 yr. computer experience or data entry
- 6 mo. – 1 yr. Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP)
